Making Solar Affordable

Your savings through group buying discounts, incentives and the benefits of the electricity you displace can all make solar more affordable. MadiSUN Group Solar Purchase partners are available to help show you how.

Group Purchase Discount
For a limited time, you can participate in the solar group purchase program to receive a price not normally available on an individual basis. The more households that participate the better the pricing gets for everyone.

Focus on Energy Rebates
If your home uses less than 6500 kWh per year or you have implemented certain energy efficiency measures first, Focus on Energy pays up to double your standard solar energy financial incentive. To be eligible for the Focus on Energy rebate, an interconnection agreement must be signed with your utility and received by Focus on Energy by December 31, 2011.

Tax Incentives
The current federal tax incentive covers up to 30% of a residential solar energy system after rebates.

MadiSUN Group Rebates
MadiSUN Group Solar Participants are eligible to receive deeper discounts as the total volume of the group purchase increases. When more than ~50kW of total group solar is purchased by MadiSUN group participants, then you are eligible to receive an automatic rebate of $100 to $1000 depending on the size of your installed system. If more than 100kW of total group solar is purchase by MadiSUN group participants, then your eligible rebate amount doubles!

Time of Use Rates
An energy conservation and payback strategy achieved through load-shifting techniques. This works best for people who want to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates, from 9:00pm to 10:00am weekdays, and weekends. MGE has an interactive worksheet online to see if you are a good candidate for time-of-use metering.

If it would be hard for you to shift your major electric use to nights and weekends, then time-of-use billing is probably not for you.

Renewable Energy Attributes
Your renewable energy attributes can be aggregated for added value.  The credits to your meter can be retained and traded on a market to support the expansion of solar energy. Learn more about RECs at our upcoming informational workshops or contact Alicia @ SGES.US.
